Birds of Sequoia Park Zoo

Birds can be very challenging to photograph, because, in the first place, they are very small, and often easily frightened. It’s difficult to get close enough to them to get a shot, even if you have very good “long” glass (which is usually very expensive). Sometimes its easier simply to go to the zoo, where the birds are more easily accessible and more comfortable with humans.

At the small local zoo here in Eureka, CA, Sequoia Park Zoo, there are a number of attractive birds, starting with a couple of eagles:
