Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

Yellowstone SP12-266

Yellowstone is an immense park with extremely varied scenery. Yet my favorite place in Yellowstone (and what I consider the most scene part of the park) is the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone: utterly spectacular, with it’s yellowish-pinkish-orangish walls and it’s immense waterfalls. The colors are wonderful, and they are constantly changing as the light shifts:

The highlight of the canyon is Lower Yellowstone Falls, one of the great waterfalls you’ll ever have the privilege of viewing:

Nor let us forget the upper falls:

Best time to photograph both falls is in late spring, when they feature the most water. They are spectacular also in winter, when they freeze over; but they are difficult to reach at that time, as all the roads leading to the falls are covered in snow!
