Superstition Mountains 1: Hieroglyphic Trailhead

The best easily accessible place to photograph sunrises in the Superstition Mountains is at the Lost Goldmine and Hieroglyphic Trails, accessed at the Hieroglyphic Trailhead in Gold Canyon, Arizona. Takes Kings Ranch Road and follow the signs, which will lead you in a maze-like fashion to the trailhead:

Once at the trailhead, walk up the Hieroglyphic Trail to the Goldmine Trail, and that will quickly lead you to an eastward looking vista which will provide excellent view to the sunrise, especially in Autumn and Winter. In all, it’s maybe a 250 yard jaunt, so it’s easy to make:
